Build a Telecom Feasibility Analysis in GIS

Course Objective

Every cell tower in the $326 billion U.S. wireless telecommunications industry exists within a myriad of site suitability constraints. Restrictions on cell tower locations exist for endangered species, wetlands, historic resources, FAA-regulated airspace, and Tribal consultation. In this course, you’ll apply the ArcGIS Suite to an actual workflow used in telecom by environmental consultants. By the end of the course, students will produce a resume ready Telecom Site Feasibility Package that includes a stakeholder-facing web map, viewshed and historic resource analysis, IPaC species list output, and a short feasibility report summarizing project risks, regulatory considerations, and recommended next steps.

Hirable skills you’ll learn

  • Learn how cell tower suitability works for telecom
  • Understand compliance with NEPA and ESA
  • Consult State Historic Preservation Office
  • Interpret lease exhibits and construction drawings
  • Configure ArcGIS Field Maps
  • Prepare raster dataset layers for your project
  • Create API requests for sensitive species data
  • Create Web Maps to share to audience
  • Utilize AI for final technical report

Focus your learning on the skills GIS jobs are asking for

A common GIS education path has been to pursue a Masters program in GIS. But it’s widely known in the industry that new geography grads are not getting enough exposure to cloud, mobile, and new geospatial programming environments.

So we assembled a world class team to teach you how to be the talent that the geospatial industry WILL HIRE. Compare the experience of our industry instructors and you’ll see why we top the list of best online GIS certiWcate programs.
  • Real-world scenarios

I like the real-world scenarios. My professors used to do GIS before Web GIS was in existence so our curriculum is out of date. The courses I’ve taken on the Bootcamp GIS platform are so much more useful than my school’s lab exercises which only taught me to digitize a line, generate a buffer, and make a map layout.
