Why my course is useful
Usually the process of business development for a commercial enterprise is a series of learned experiences on the job on how to win work. There isn’t a class on this topic which makes this a long tail learning path full of mistakes. We give you a shortcut to learning the ropes of marketing and hunting for work in a geospatial context: SWOT analysis, value props, branding, marketing channels, bid sites, and networking organizations.
Why I built it
I’ve been giving presentations on business development at my professional meetings at MAPPS (https://mapps.org). The knowledge I conveyed has been useful from one 20 year professional to someone more junior. But doing this once a year to 10 people just wasn’t scalable. The GIS sector is growing and I know that my lessons learned can help those getting hired or promoted into business development roles.
What I hope for you
I’d like you to see this as a stepping stone into business development for your geospatial company. Many times, people get promoted from GIS analyst technical roles because they are trusted with time in the company. In these cases, I hope you find my class during this transition so you will be armed with a proven marketing process, networking channels, and branding strategies to win business for your company. When you do that, another promotion will be on the way!

Could have added a section on financial proposal models. Otherwise pretty complete course.
